New Education Policy: Advantages of NEP 2020
The National Education Policy of India 2020 which was approved by the Union Cabinet of India on 29 July 2020, outlines the vision of a new education system of India. The policy is a comprehensive framework, envisioning a broad-based, multi-disciplinary, and comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate education with a modular curriculum and the integration of vocational courses which would propel the Indian education sector to new heights.

Focus on Practical Skills: The New Education Policy aims to enhance students' practical knowledge instead of just focusing on rote learning. However, some institutions, such as RICS SBE, have already sensed the importance of practical skills and taken measures towards this objective by giving access to computer labs and organizing workshops for its students.
More use of Technology in Education: The government will create an autonomous entity, the National Educational Technology Forum (NETF), to ensure the proper integration of technology in education. Institutions will be supported to empower their faculty and students by enabling ICT in classroom processes.
Digitalization of Teaching-Learning Process: An expert team for developing the digital infrastructure, such as a digital library, e-content, etc. will be formed to meet the student’s needs & maximize the learning outcomes in the higher education sector.
Ramp up holistic development for students: NEP 2020 has emphasized the importance of athletics, extracurricular activities such as singing, dance, and theatre, as well as 10-day internships beginning in sixth grade, to encourage students' holistic development.
Vocational skills to be taught: By the time they finish schooling, each student will have learned a vocational skill of his or her choice. Beginning in sixth grade, students will be taught how to code.
Expenditure: Education spending will be increased to 6% of total GDP, up from 4% previously. This will lower the cost of education.
Foreign colleges will be allowed to establish campuses in India- The top 100 foreign colleges will be allowed to do so. This will make it easier for students who were unable to go abroad due to multiple reasons will now experience it and get global exposure.
Promoting Regional/Local Language- The relevance of the regional language will be increased by adopting it as a medium of education until the fifth or eighth grade. Sanskrit will be offered as a third optional subject at all levels of education. Other languages will be accessible as elective courses. At the secondary level, other foreign languages will be taught. Indian Sign Language will be created, and students with hearing impairments will receive newly developed content and procedures.
Equitable and Inclusive Education-
Education that is both equitable and inclusive is the goal of the education policy. Groups that are socially and economically disadvantaged will be prioritized. This will create Special Education Zones for underserved areas or regions.
"Bal Bhavans" States/districts are encouraged to establish day-boarding schools where students can participate in extracurricular activities relating to their careers and hobbies. This will boost the holistic development of students.
Understanding Learning Techniques-
Students will have to shift their focus from learning to learning methods. They will have a better understanding of the learning process and how to integrate multiple points of view. They will be able to adjust their responsiveness to the changing environment and receive better inputs as a result of this. Students must develop their thinking processes to deal with ambiguity, which occurs frequently in the actual world.
